LNAT registration 2026: what you need to know first
LNAT registration 2026 opens on 1st August each year. You cannot book your test before this date, but you can and should prepare your details in advance so you can book as soon as registration opens. Test centre slots fill up quickly in September and October, particularly in major cities.
The LNAT is administered by Pearson VUE and delivered at their test centres worldwide. You register through the official LNAT website at lnat.ac.uk, not through Pearson VUE directly.
Step-by-step registration guide
Step 1: Create your LNAT account
Go to lnat.ac.uk and create an account using your email address. You will need this account to register for the test, view your score, and have your results sent to universities. Use an email address you check regularly – all communications about your test will be sent here.
Step 2: Enter your UCAS personal ID
You will need your UCAS personal ID to register for the LNAT. This links your LNAT score to your UCAS application so universities can access it. If you have not yet registered with UCAS, do this first before completing your LNAT registration.
Step 3: Enter your university choices
During registration you will be asked which universities you are applying to. Your score will be automatically shared with the LNAT universities you select. You do not need to submit your universities at registration – you can update them later if your UCAS choices change.
Step 4: Find and book a test centre
Once registered on the LNAT website, you will be directed to Pearson VUE to book your specific test date and centre. Search for centres near you and choose a date that gives you enough preparation time before the relevant deadline. The LNAT is available at Pearson VUE centres across the UK and in many countries worldwide including India, Singapore, the US and across Europe.
Step 5: Pay the test fee
The LNAT test fee is approximately £50 for test centres in the UK and EU, and higher for centres outside this region. Payment is made to Pearson VUE at the time of booking. Check the current fee on the official LNAT website as it can change year to year.
Key LNAT deadlines for 2026 applicants
Oxford applicants
If you are applying to Oxford, you must sit the LNAT by 15th October. This is the most important deadline and the one most students miss if they leave registration too late. Oxford’s UCAS deadline is also 15th October, so you need both your LNAT and your UCAS application completed by the same date.
All other LNAT universities
For all other universities that require the LNAT – including UCL, Durham, Bristol, KCL and Nottingham – you must complete the test by 20th January. The UCAS deadline for these universities is also 15th January, so you have a small window between your UCAS submission and your LNAT deadline.
Late applicants
There is a late application window with a deadline of 25th July for international students in certain circumstances. This is not relevant for the vast majority of applicants.
When should you book your test?
Book as early as possible once registration opens on 1st August. If you are targeting Oxford, aim to sit your test in September or early October to give yourself time to receive your score before the 15th October deadline. Do not leave it until the final week before the deadline – test centre slots can be fully booked, and if something goes wrong on the day you will have no time to rearrange.
If you are applying to other LNAT universities with a January deadline, sitting in October or November gives you plenty of time and means you have not yet started intensive A-Level revision which typically picks up in January.
What happens on test day
Arrive at your Pearson VUE centre at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Bring valid photo ID – a passport or driving licence. You will not be admitted without ID. The test is computer-based and delivered at the test centre – you cannot sit it from home.
You will complete Section A (42 multiple choice questions, 95 minutes) and Section B (one essay, 40 minutes) in a single sitting of approximately 2 hours 15 minutes including check-in time. You cannot take a break between sections.
Start your preparation now
Registration is only the first step. The most important thing you can do once you have booked your test is begin structured preparation straight away. Start with our free LNAT practice paper to establish your baseline score, then build systematically with full-length LNAT practice tests in the weeks before your test date.
