LNAT Past Papers: What’s Available and What to Practise With

Are there official LNAT past papers?

No. The LNAT Consortium, which runs the test, does not publish past papers. Once a test cycle ends, those questions are retired and never released. The only official material is a small set of practice tests on lnat.ac.uk, and those are practice sets written for the purpose, not papers that real candidates sat.

So anyone advertising “official LNAT past papers” as a download is either mislabelling practice material or selling something the LNAT itself does not make available. It is worth knowing that before you go looking.

What official LNAT practice material is there?

Everything the LNAT itself provides is free on its practice test page:

• An online tutorial that shows you how the on-screen test works.
• One online sample test, a simulation of the LNAT exactly as it appears on screen at the test centre. You can take it as many times as you like.
• Two practice papers to download as PDF (or RTF), with a marking scheme and a commentary on the questions.
• Sample essays, published separately on the LNAT sample essays page.

That is three full tests in total. Do all of them, ideally under timed conditions, but expect to run out quickly.

Are there LNAT past papers in PDF?

Not real ones, because no past papers are released. The PDFs you can legitimately download are the two official LNAT practice papers, our free practice paper and the papers in our practice sets. All of them follow the real Section A format of 42 multiple-choice questions on argumentative passages, and our full practice papers add a Section B essay. Print them, or work from the screen, but always time yourself: 95 minutes for Section A and 40 minutes for the essay.

It also means the usual revision approach does not apply. There is nothing to look up or memorise. The only thing that improves your score is doing full papers under timed conditions until the format feels automatic.

How many LNAT practice papers do I need?
