Free LNAT Practice Paper (Updated): Full-Length Mock + Worked Answers

This is our updated free LNAT practice paper: a complete, full-length mock test from our new edition, written from scratch for the current LNAT format in the same style as The Complete LNAT Practice Book. It is a separate paper, not one of the book’s ten. It is a different paper from our original free practice test, so you can sit both.

What is inside

  • 12 original passages and 42 Section A questions, laid out like the real test.
  • A worked explanation for every question, covering why the right answer is right and why each wrong option fails.
  • 3 Section B essay prompts with planning space.
  • A printable answer sheet and a quick answer key.

How to use it

Sit Section A in one go with a 95-minute timer, then choose one essay and give yourself 40 minutes. Mark your answers with the key, then read every explanation, including the ones you got right. Your score tells you where you stand today; the explanations show you how to improve.

Is this the same as the original free LNAT paper?

No. It is a new paper from our updated edition, so it is worth sitting even if you have already done the original one.

This paper follows the Section A structure of the LNAT: 12 argumentative passages with 42 multiple-choice questions, timed for 95 minutes, followed by a 40-minute essay chosen from three prompts.

Sit it against the clock, mark it with the quick answer key, then work through the explanations. Each one shows why the right answer is right and why every other option fails, which is where most of the improvement comes from.

All passages and questions are original, written for our updated edition. They are not past LNAT papers, which are not published.

The opening of Passage 1 from the free updated paper:

“Everyone else is allowed.” Few sentences have done more to shape modern childhood. Parents hear it at the school gate, at the dinner table and in the back of the car, and it usually works. Ask the parents of eleven-year-olds whether they want their children on social media, and a great many will say no. Ask how many of those children have accounts anyway, and the answer is uncomfortable…

Each passage argues a position you can test: what the author claims, what the argument assumes, and what would strengthen or weaken it.
