Two different things get called “registration” when you are preparing for the LNAT, and they are easy to confuse. This page covers both: booking the test itself, and getting access to practice papers you have bought from us.
How do I register for the LNAT?
You register in two stages, at lnat.ac.uk. First you create an LNAT account, then you book a test sitting at a Pearson VUE test centre. Skipping the second stage is the mistake that catches people out: creating the account does not reserve you a seat.

The test is run by the LNAT Consortium, not by any individual university, and not by us. Register early even if you are not ready to sit yet. An account costs nothing to create, and it gives you the full choice of dates rather than whatever is left. Centres near big cities fill up in the weeks before a deadline.
When is the LNAT registration deadline?
It depends where you are applying. If Oxford is one of your choices, you need to have registered and sat the test by 5 October. For the other LNAT universities the date is 15 October, in line with the UCAS deadline. Some universities accept a later sitting up to 15 January.

These dates recur each year. Check lnat.ac.uk for the exact deadline in your admissions cycle, the current test fee, and whether you qualify for a fee bursary, since those change year to year. Do I need an account here to get the free practice paper?
No. There is no account and no password. The download link appears on the confirmation screen straight after you sign up, and is emailed to the same address within a few minutes.
If it has not arrived, check your spam folder before anything else, since that is where it usually is. You can start again from the free practice paper page at any time using the same email address.
How do I access a paid bundle?
Your papers download immediately after checkout, and we also create an account for you automatically using the email address you entered. You will get a separate email asking you to set a password. Once it is set, log in at My Account and download your papers again whenever you need them, from the Orders tab.
This matters more than it sounds. Download emails get deleted and phones get replaced. The account is how you get back to papers you have paid for without having to ask anyone. You do not need to create one before buying.
Where does the one-click practice link in your emails go?
To PrepGenie, our online practice partner, where you can sit a paper on screen instead of on paper. It is a separate site from this one, so your login here and your access there are not the same thing. The link logs you in directly, which is why it does not ask for a password.
I have lost my download link. What now?
It depends what you ordered, and in every case you can get back in without waiting for us.

What should I do once I am registered?
Sit a full paper under real time pressure, as early as you can. Booking the test is the easy part, and the scores that move are built from timed full-length papers rather than from reading about technique.
If you have not tried one yet, start with the free paper and give it the full 95 minutes with no pausing and no looking things up. It will tell you more about where you stand than any amount of preparation advice.
